This is an ACA Level 4 Coastal Kayaking Instructor Certification Exam (ICE) for existing L-3 instructors who wish to advance to L-4 certification. The three-day Instructor Development Workshop is a follow-up to the Instructor Certification Exam (ICE), which will take place a month earlier.
Note, in order to participate you must meet the requirements for aspiring L-4 instructors, found here. The exam is a comprehensive evaluation of teaching L-4 skills and L-4 paddling ability in L-4 conditions. The exam is a mix of classroom and on-water participation and instructor candidates will be assigned teaching topics in advance of the ICE, as well as some ad-hoc assignments.
This exam will be led by Tom Noffsinger and Dale Williams, in the Eastern Shore of Virginia area, just north of Hampton Roads. Lodging will be provided. This event can also serve as an instructor update for L-4s who need recertification.
Note, there is a max of 10 participants, and this course is expected to fill up early, so don’t wait to enroll! A 50% deposit is required to secure your spot. Deposits are refundable until July 1.
