This is an ACA Level 4 Coastal Kayaking Instructor Development Workshop (IDW) for existing L-3 instructors who wish to advance to L-4 certification. The three-day Instructor Development Workshop is a prequel to the Instructor Certification Exam (ICE), which will take place a month later.
Note, in order to participate you must meet the requirements for aspiring L-4 instructors, found here. The workshop is designed to help aspiring L-4 instructors develop the skills necessary to teach L-4 skills and supervise students in L-4 conditions. The workshop is a mix of classroom and on-water participation and instructor candidates will be assigned teaching topics in advance of the IDW. This event can also serve as an instructor update for L-4s who need recertification.
Students participating should leave the IDW with clear direction on areas they need to work on before participating in the L-4 ICE. This course will be taught by Tom Noffsinger and Dale Williams, in the Eastern Shore of Virginia area, just north of Hampton Roads. Lodging will be provided.
Note, there is a max of 10 participants, and this course is expected to fill up early, so don’t wait to enroll! A 50% deposit is required to secure your spot. Deposits are refundable until July 1.
The IDW is $420 for the three day course, plus a share of the lodging, estimated to be around $50/night for four nights. Lodging is in a rental house, with full kitchen.
Early Bird Pricing: Save $45 off the three day course if you book by July 1. The price is $125/day for early birds, and $140/day after July 1.
